Seats & personal plans

Alongside every organization’s own plan, your account has its own personal plan: Free, Plus, Max, or Pro. It governs things scoped to you as an individual - never anything about how the organizations you’re a member of (but don’t own) behave.

When you’re a member of a paid organization, your personal plan is also called your seat, and the organization pays for it as a line on its own invoice rather than you paying for it yourself - see Who pays for a seat below. Nobody is asked for a card personally just for being added to a paid organization.

Being introduced: today the seat is recorded, but it doesn’t carry anything yet. Your AI allowance still comes from your own personal plan - a Free personal plan gets no AI even inside a paid organization - and, outside Sencai’s own development environment, the seat line isn’t on the organization’s invoice yet.

Your personal plan controls one thing:

  • How much AI is included, and what it costs above that. AI is bought here and only here. Every paid plan includes a monthly AI allowance and keeps working past it at a metered rate - it is a quantity, not a switch.

This is different from an organization’s plan (see Organization plans), which governs what the organization pays for: its managed resources, how much of running them is automated, and the people who need access beyond the included allowance. Seats are billed on top of that as their own invoice line (see Who pays for a seat below) - but because AI sits on the personal axis, using AI never moves that bill: what someone does inside their allowance costs the organization nothing beyond the seat itself.

AI is measured in credits, and the allowance is monthly whether you pay monthly or annually. Annual billing multiplies the price of the plan, not the size of the allowance.

A credit is a fixed amount of money, not a fixed amount of computation. That is deliberate: the number of tokens one euro buys differs by more than an order of magnitude between a small model and a large one, so a token allowance would quietly become a different-sized allowance every time the model mix changed. Repricing a model changes how many tokens a credit buys and never what a credit is worth.

What a credit is worth, and what each plan costs, are stated on sencai.space/pricing. This site does not restate prices anywhere, so there is only one place for a price to be wrong.

Nothing switches off. You keep working, and what you use above the allowance is billed at the same rate the allowance itself is measured at. There is no cut-off at the end of the allowance, and no separate, higher overage price to discover afterwards - the rate above the allowance is the rate the allowance was sized in.

Two things bound what that can cost you:

  • A monthly safety ceiling, set by default at 4× the included allowance. It exists so a runaway script cannot produce an unbounded bill. You can move it, and when it is reached AI pauses for the rest of the month rather than continuing to bill.
  • Whoever pays. If someone else pays for your plan, the overage is billed to them and they can set you a lower ceiling. See Sponsorship below.

Every paid plan includes AI; for AI-assisted remediation and AI code review they differ in how much is included, not in what’s allowed. Plus, Max, and Pro all get both - the allowance is the thing that differs. This is the same rule the organization axis follows, where nothing is reserved for larger customers and only the price grows with use.

Free is a separate case rather than an exception to that rule: it is not a paid plan, and the free configuration comes without AI.

Lumen, the in-app AI chat assistant, is the one real exception: it’s meant to be available on Max and Pro only, with usage limits, and unavailable on Free and Plus regardless of allowance. Whether your account can reach it at all also depends on a separate switch your account team controls - see Intelligence for that part. The tier restriction above isn’t enforced yet, so today Lumen follows only that account-level switch, not your personal plan.

No personal plan - including Free - limits how many organizations you may own; that used to be a per-tier ceiling and no longer is. The one ownership rule that still applies has nothing to do with your personal plan: you may own only one organization on the free configuration at a time. Any organization beyond that first free one needs to be on a paid plan.

Free is the automatic fallback if you don’t choose a paid personal plan after your trial ends. See sencai.space/pricing for what a credit is worth and what each plan costs - that page and this one state the same allowance, the same rule for what happens above it, and the same default ceiling.

Go to your profile and choose Upgrade my plan, or go directly to /gravity/profile/checkout/upgrade. Pick a tier and you’re taken to a Checkout page to confirm payment - this is separate from, and does not touch, any organization’s own plan or checkout flow.

What actually runs today: your account gets its own 14-day personal trial, and separately, every organization gets its own 14-day trial too. Your personal trial starts the moment your account is created - including an account provisioned for you through SCIM - on a trial personal-plan tier that isn’t tied to any one organization. On day 14 it converts automatically to the Free personal plan; you’re never suspended. That conversion can also put an organization you own into a grace period, but only if you personally own more organizations than a Free personal plan lets you own for free - not if any one of them has grown past Free’s own resource or member limits, which is a separate, organization-level thing. In practice this doesn’t come up today: as the table above shows, no personal plan currently caps how many organizations you may own. Independently, every organization starts its own 14-day trial the moment it’s created - not just your first one - and if nobody upgrades it by day 14, that organization is locked to read-only for creating or changing cloud instances and for editing organization settings (sending invitations is not currently blocked by it). See Billing overview for what that locks and unlocks.

The decided direction replaces your account-wide personal trial above with a narrower, org-anchored one: a one-time, 14-day Plus-tier seat, free, in the first organization you create or join after registering - not a Pro-tier account-wide trial, not something a second organization would ever grant you again, and with the organization itself never getting a trial of its own. It would be yours as an individual, tied to that first organization, and that organization wouldn’t be charged for your seat while the 14 days run. It isn’t live in any environment yet - today, every new account keeps getting the account-wide personal trial described above instead, and every new organization keeps getting its own organization-wide trial regardless of who creates it or how many they’ve already been through.

Being introduced: once this ships, you’d only get it once, granted the moment you open your first seat through self-registration or through your organization’s SSO, and only with a verified email address - an unverified address waits until you verify it, a disposable-email domain never qualifies, and one email address earns it only once across accounts. Not through SCIM provisioning, managed onboarding, or an admin creating your account for you (today’s account-wide personal trial, by contrast, starts for every new account including those three). When the 14 days end, one of two things would happen depending on the organization your seat is in, and nothing about your data would ever be deleted either way:

  • If that organization is still on the free configuration, your seat would revert to Free - no AI, no automation for the organization.
  • If that organization is on a paid plan, your seat would continue as Plus, and from then on the organization would pay for it like any other member’s seat - see Who pays for a seat below.

A second organization you join or create later would never trigger this trial again - the eligibility would be tied to your account, not to the organization.

Sponsorship - someone else paying for your plan

Section titled “Sponsorship - someone else paying for your plan”

A personal plan does not have to be paid by the person using it.

If you’re already on Plus, Max, or Pro, you can sponsor another person’s personal plan directly from your profile: you send them an invitation, they accept it, and from then on you’re billed for their plan instead of them. Sponsorship only pays the bill for their AI allowance - it has nothing to do with which organizations they own (no personal plan, sponsored or not, governs that; see What a personal plan governs above).

The invited person accepts at /gravity/profile/sponsorship/accept (the link in their invitation email) - they need to already be logged in as themselves, since the invitation is tied to their account’s email address.

If a sponsorship is ever revoked (by either the sponsor or the sponsored user), it takes effect immediately: the sponsored account drops to Free the moment the revocation is processed, in the same request - there’s no grace period. The one exception is if you already have your own paid subscription for that plan; then nothing changes except who’s paying. Nothing is deleted either way.

Sponsoring covers the whole of the sponsored person’s AI: the monthly allowance and anything spent above it both go on the sponsor’s invoice. The sponsor’s exposure for one person is therefore bounded by that person’s monthly safety ceiling - by default 4× their allowance - and a sponsor can set a lower ceiling than the default for anyone they pay for.

Once an organization is on a paid plan, every member of it holds at least a Plus seat - there’s no unpaid member of a paid organization - and the organization pays for those seats itself, as its own invoice line (member_seat), the same way it pays for its managed resources and automation. You don’t personally pay, and you don’t personally choose to be on Plus, Max, or Pro just by joining a paid organization; the organization’s billing owner controls that.

Being introduced: until this is switched on, the seat is recorded but not yet billed or used: the member_seat line is left off every invoice outside Sencai’s own development environment, and your AI allowance still comes from your own personal plan rather than from the seat - so a member on a Free personal plan has no AI allowance, even in a paid organization.

This is a different transaction from an organization sponsoring AI for someone in a way that goes beyond the seat floor - for example paying to move a specific member from Plus up to Max or Pro for a heavier allowance. That still routes through the same sponsorship mechanism described above, from a billing owner’s profile or through your account team.
